The World Famous

Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher (Aillte an Mhothair) are one of Ireland’s most popular visitor attractions. However until you see them from the ferry, you haven’t really seen them at all. These amazing sea cliffs are named from the ancient Gaelic word ‘Mhothair’ (Moher) which means ruined fort. They rise to a jaw dropping height of over 214 metres (700ft) at their highest point. Our ferry sails right beneath this point just north of O’Brien’s Tower. The furthest point of the cliffs from Doolin is Hags Head in Liscannor. Here you can find the 1st century fort, Moher Tower, that it is named for.

It is hard to take in their magnificent heights until you see them from sea level. The people walking along the trail high above appear no larger than ants!

Magnificent Heights

What can we see by ferry?

  • O’Brien’s Tower at the cliffs highest point
  • The Great Sea Stack (An Branán Mór)
  • Sea Cave from ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’
  • One of Europe’s Largest Seabird Colonies
  • Views of The Aran Islands, The Burren, and Galway Bay

Our cruise is a truly unique way to take in the majesty of these iconic cliffs. During the trip you will hear a live commentary from our experienced crew on a journey you will be sure to remember. Take in the wildlife, nature, and history of the stunning West of Ireland coastline. See Ireland’s largest sea bird colony at An Branán Mór (Sea Stack) and the sea cave used in filming ‘Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince’. You may even spot some puffins, dolphins, seals, or basking sharks. We have a number of tour options to choose from including our Group and School Tour trips.
